Bird Checklist

The Rouge River Bird Observatory’s Dearborn bird checklist contains 264 species, most of which were recorded on the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus and adjacent green space. That’s about 60% of all the species ever recorded in the state of Michigan in less than 400 acres without boreal forest, wetlands, or shoreline. More importantly, of the 295 species considered regular (occurring annually) in the state, nearly half are also regular here.

Detailed information on the bird life of our area, including status, relative abundance, temporal patterns, and historical references is in the book The Birds of Dearborn, An Annotated Checklist. It is available as a paperback, or you can download a PDF for only $5.
